Missing teeth can diminish your quality of life, making it difficult to chew or speak and causing you to feel self-conscious of your smile. We use the latest technology to provide precise dental implant placement and superior results.
Why should you consider an implant-supported restoration?
Preservation of Healthy Teeth
One of the primary benefits of dental implants at our Knoxville, TN, practice over other methods is that treatment does not require the alteration of surrounding teeth. Traditional dental bridges, for example, are supported by the teeth adjacent to the gap in your smile, meaning they must be substantially reshaped.
Improved Jawbone Strength
When a tooth is missing, nutrients are redirected to other parts of the body and the jawbone often shrinks as a result. Since a dental implant replaces the roots as well the crown of the tooth, it stimulates the jaw and prevents future bone loss. This not only protects the jaw but also maintains the health and stability of surrounding teeth.
Simpler Oral Hygiene
Some traditional restorations, such as bridges, can make it difficult to perform regular oral hygiene. Implant-supported crowns, in contrast, are easy to floss and brush just like natural teeth.
A Stable Alternative
Dental implants are designed to fuse with the surrounding bone. Over time, they become part of the jaw and the restorations look and feel nearly identical to your real teeth. Because of this, implant-supported dentures will stay firmly in place rather than move around like removable dentures. With dental implants, denture wearers no longer have to struggle with discomfort or embarrassment.
Long-Lasting Restoration
With proper care, dental implants can last for a lifetime. Although your crown, bridge, or denture may eventually need to be replaced, the posts will remain firmly in place once they have fused with the bone. Implants are the only type of restoration that is considered to be permanent.
“When I learned that I had to have an implant, I was so anxious. However, I literally just walked out of this procedure, performed by Dr. Emery, and it was unequivocally the best experience I have ever had as far as my teeth. He was kind, patient, and gentle. I didn’t need sedation or nitrous oxide. I’m thrilled!”

Dental Implants Impressive Success Rates
Just how long-lasting are dental implants? According to the Institute for Dental Implant Awareness, 95% of dental implants are successful after long-term use.
Dental Implants Can Help
Dental implants are an advanced restorative treatment method that can meet your unique needs. For the majority of us, dental implants can help if you have missing teeth due to:
Poor Oral Health
Advanced decay and gum disease can lead to missing teeth.
Sudden Trauma
Sports injuries or car accidents can lead to damaged or lost teeth.
Genetics
Conditions such as hypodontia mean you are born with fewer teeth.
Implants Can Also Replace Failing Teeth
While the goal of dentistry is always to help you retain your natural teeth, there are some cases where a tooth becomes too badly damaged. Severe infection or trauma can leave a tooth beyond repair.
In these cases, the best way to restore your oral health may be extracting the damaged tooth and replacing it with an implant-supported restoration. This solution also prevents other oral health issues, such as jawbone atrophy, from occurring.
Your Lifestyle and Overall Health Can Affect Your Candidacy
Are you still not sure if you qualify for implants?
Jawbone Density
If your teeth have been missing for a certain period of time, you may have lost too much tissue in your jawbone to support implants. For qualifying patients, Dr. Emery or Dr. Manuel can perform a bone graft to improve your eligibility for implants.
Smoking
Since smoking interferes with your body’s ability to heal after surgery, it can significantly increase your risk of experiencing implant failure. We strongly recommend smokers quit several months before their implant placement procedure.
Peridontal Issues
Your gums play an important role in the success of dental implants. If you have gum disease or another periodontal health issue, you may need to seek treatment before you can receive implants.
General Health
Uncontrolled diabetes or other issues affecting your immune system can increase the chance of complications due to surgery. Make sure to discuss your full medical history with our team.
A Trusted Treatment
You may be apprehensive to undergo dental implant surgery due to a fear of complications. While every surgery involves risks, dental implants are a trusted restorative solution.
According to the Journal of Dental Research, 95.5 percent of implants placed by specialists are successful. Our team of oral surgeons is extensively trained in placement techniques for the safest and most precise care. We have successfully performed a large number of dental implant procedures.
How We Can Replace a Single Tooth with an Implant-Supported Crown
All-on-4 Dental Implants:
Streamlined Implant Treatment
For patients who would require a bone graft to receive traditional implants, All-on-4® dental implants may be a viable alternative. The All-on-4 technique places two implants at a 45-degree angle and the other two vertically. This allows you to receive the same stability with fewer implants and, in some cases, eliminates the need for a bone graft. Additionally, these implants can support a denture immediately after placement.
What to Expect During Treatment
We coordinate with your general dentist to provide streamlined care.
Preparation
Preliminary oral surgery procedures such as bone grafting and sinus lifts can help rebuild your jawbone to support dental implants. If one of these treatments is necessary, your implant procedure will typically occur in about four to nine months, or once the jaw has completely healed.
Sedation
We can provide local anesthesia and intravenous (IV) sedation to ensure your comfort and relieve any anxiety prior to your treatment.
Implant Placement
To begin your implant surgery, one of our surgeons will create a small incision in the gums to access the jaw bone. They will then carefully create space for the implant and place the post within the bone. If you are a candidate for same-day placement with All-on-4, we can coordinate with your dentist so that we can attach your temporary restoration to your implants during your placement procedure.
Osseointegration
Generally, it will take about three to six months for the post to fully fuse with your jaw.
Final Restoration
Once your implants have fully healed, you will return to your primary dental care provider where they will attach your finalized restoration.
Improve Your Smile and Your Well-Being

How We Can Replace a Single Tooth with an Implant-Supported Crown
Dental implants replace missing tooth roots to provide lifelike and lasting support to restorations.
Our Surgeons Can Perform Safe & Effective Dental Implant Placement
Dental implants are titanium posts that are inserted into the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. These posts can provide unparalleled support for your dental crown, denture, or dental bridge. Implant-supported restorations are highly recommended because they provide certain benefits over traditional options, such as:
- Preservation of jaw bone
- Long-lasting restoration
- Added stability
- Improved form and function
When incorrectly placed, dental implants will not provide the strong foundation you need. Many local dentists are confident in the ability of our surgeons and regularly recommend their patients to our practice in Knoxville.
The benefits of dental implants include improved nutrition as well as a renewed sense of confidence.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost at Our Practice?
There are a variety of factors that impact dental implants’ cost, including the number of posts and treatment method. Total treatment cost at our practice in Knoxville typically ranges from $4,000 to $4,500 per tooth. Implants are considered a permanent investment that should be approached with the significant benefits in mind. Receiving care from an oral surgeon can substantially improve the quality of your results and your overall experience. At Knoxville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we can provide the highest level of care through the advanced tools available at our state-of-the-art surgical center and the unparalleled skills of our surgeons, Drs. Emery and Rizzo.
The Cost of Dental Implants
The cost will vary depending on:
Need for Preparatory Procedures
Treatments to improve your oral health before implant placement can have a dramatic impact on your results. However, they can also raise the final cost of implants.
Number of Implants Needed
Replacing a single missing tooth with an implant-supported crown will typically cost less than supporting a full denture with four to eight posts.
Implant Placement Method
At Knoxville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we offer several different placement methods to meet your unique needs. Our team can explain how these different methods affect the cost of dental implants.
Type of Restoration
The materials you choose as well as the size of your restoration play a role in the overall price of restoring your smile with implants.
Choice of Surgeon
Surgeons with less experience may provide treatment at lower costs. However, selecting an oral surgeon with the level of experience available at our practice can ensure the best possible results.
Type of Sedation
Dental sedation can ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible. We offer both local anesthesia and IV sedation at our practice and can explain the different associated costs.
Understanding Your Costs
All of these factors directly impact the cost of materials and the time requirements of our surgeons. As a fully equipped surgical center, we also provide superior services performed by a team with extensive oral and maxillofacial surgery education, training, and experience. The advantages of undergoing treatment with an oral surgeon cannot be overstated. While you could receive bone grafting, sinus lifts, and dental implants from a number of dentists, our highly trained professionals provide the highest level of care and precision.
Managing Your Expenses
We believe that choosing the best available dental techniques should be available to all of our patients. Although this procedure can involve a significant expense, there are a few options for managing your payments.
Dental Insurance
We accept insurance from several providers which can cover some of your costs.
For most patients, insurance will not cover the full amount, but can substantially decrease your out-of-pocket expenses.
CareCredit®
We also accept financing through CareCredit which can supplement the portion of your care not covered by your insurance provider. This trusted medical lending company offers various financing options and repayment terms for patients with unique needs.
Dental Implants Are an Investment in Your Oral Health
Advanced Stability
Unlike traditional methods, an implant-supported restoration replaces the entire structure of a tooth for incredible stability and a more comfortable result.
Improved Health
Proper bite function is crucial to maintaining your oral and overall health. When missing teeth have impacted your ability to eat, speak, or smile comfortably, an implant-supported restoration can have a significant impact on your life.
Outstanding Results
Dental implants provide a superior solution to address oral health issues caused by missing teeth and can provide a lasting return on your investment.

Why Choose Our Practice?
At Knoxville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, we offer several techniques—including All-on-4®, hybrid, and traditional dental implants—to maximize your treatment benefits. By offering different treatment options, we can personally tailor care in a way that will provide the most natural-looking, stable results.
Receiving sub-par care from an inexperienced doctor promising substantial savings can have negative effects on your health. Less-qualified doctors can improperly angle or place posts too close together or commit other harmful mistakes leading to nerve damage and significant pain. These errors can cost you much more than your original treatment. The need for revision surgeries following an unsuccessful dental implant procedure can dramatically affect your life, making our experienced care a valuable advantage for our patients.

Awesome Staff, Excellent Doctors, Great Prices! Turned a ‘bad day’ into great experience! Been there twice- almost 2 years apart. Rock solid and highly recommended!
- Max Zimmerman
Painless procedures and quick recoveries. Couldn’t be more pleased. Highly recommend these oral surgeons.
- Robin Hutchins
Dr. Emery did a fantastic job in providing tooth extraction and replacement with a dental implant. I had been anxious and he relieved my concerns immediately. He and his team provided a relatively pain-free experience and were available to answer all my questions quickly and professionally. I was so pleased with them that I took my daughter to Dr. Emery for her wisdom teeth extraction. We were both surprised at how well her pain had been managed and she never had to use opioids! If we need oral surgery again, we know where to go! Thank you, Dr. Emery, Dawn, Amanda, Meghan, Hannah, Wendy, and all the others!
- Lea Alexander
Dr. Emery and his staff are so amazing. They really go the extra mile to make you comfortable and Dr. Emery’s bedside manner is like none I’ve ever seen before! He’s one of those doctors you hope you don’t have to go back to, but will be the ONLY one I do go to if it’s ever needed again. My only complaint is that he’s not in general dentistry because i wouldn’t be so terrified to go to a dentist if it was him. Great guy, great staff, great atmosphere!
- Allison Fritz
I have been terribly afraid of dentistry/oral surgery since having a very bad experience several years ago. When I learned that I had to have an implant, I was so anxious. However, I literally just walked out of this procedure, performed by Dr. Emery, and it was unequivocally the best experience I have ever had as far as my teeth. He was kind, patient, and gentle. I didn’t need sedation or nitrous oxide. I’m thrilled!
